Magical Myster Tour bus fuelled, ready to go

Well, my friends, the names have been drawn and all the plans are in place for this Saturday’s VIP Magical Mystery Shopping Bus contest for a group of lucky Toronto Sun readers!

It’s going to be one heck of an astonishing event — we literally start shopping before the sun comes up, and head back after it sets.

A CHARITABLE AFFAIR:

Are you ready to fall head over paws for an adopted pet?

PetSmart Charities of Canada is having it’s famous November National Adoption Weekend, and this may be the perfect time to find a new forever furry friend.

The recently released 2014 Shelter Pet Report by PetSmart Charities of Canada found that while 73% of Canadians say that pet homelessness is at least somewhat important to them, an equal number admit they do nothing to help solve the issue in their communities.

Other data shows that if communities work together now, Canadians can help end pet homelessness in a generation.

“PetSmart’s adoption weekends raise awareness about pet homelessness and give Canadians the opportunity to make a positive impact on the issue in their communities,” said company president John DeFranco. “Our 2014 Shelter Pet Report highlighted the need for more education on pet homelessness and we hope that through these weekends Canadians will see why adoption is the best option.”

The national adoption weekend will take place from Nov. 14-16 at all 100 PetSmart stores across Canada.

More than 100 animal-welfare organizations will be on-site at every store to help visitors find the perfect dog, cat, puppy or kitten.

Adopting is easy — just visit any PetSmart adoption centre from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and, well, be prepared to fall in love with a new friend!

KUDOS TO KORRY! Saul Korman, president of Korry’s Clothiers and a beloved Canadian fixture on the fashion scene, was recently awarded the 2015 Business Leader of the Year Award as part of the Toronto Board of Trade’s Business Excellence honours.

“I am very proud to have been chosen to represent this group,” said Korman, 80, adding: “I was very surprised to have been selected and extremely humbled. I came to Toronto from Quebec with only a Grade 10 education. I have been fortunate to have combined my love of menswear retailing along with my natural inclination for show business. The two traits have allowed me to build a very successful small business employing over 20 persons.”

Korry’s is now a three-generation business, having been started by Saul’s father, Nathan, more than 60 years ago.
