Nestlé Waters Canada donates $51,615 worth of water to Project Water for use across Greater Toronto Area

Bottled water best antidote to dehydration for those living on the streets
TORONTO, Ontario – Nestlé Waters Canada, Canada’s market share-leading manufacturer and distributor of healthy beverage choices, today announced that it has donated $51,615 worth of bottled water to Project Water, a volunteer organization that distributes bottled water to those living on Greater Toronto Area streets who suffer from dehydration during the summer months.
Project Water will distribute bottled water to more than 160 social service agencies over the next few months that work with the homeless and needy in Toronto and across the GTA. Agencies that receive the water include the Salvation Army, the Canadian Red Cross, Street Health Bus, St. John Ambulance, the Scott Mission and the YWCA.
Nestlé Waters Canada will deliver 310, 464 bottles of water to Project Water today. Since 2006, the Company has donated more than 1,196,448 bottles of water to the organization valued at $203,951.
More homeless persons die on the streets in the summer due to dehydration than in the winter due to hypothermia, explains Project Water founder Jody Steinhauer.
“Dehydration amongst those living on the streets of Toronto is a major health crisis in our community – and we are very pleased that, once again, Nestlé Waters Canada has stepped up to the plate,” said Ms. Steinhauer. “Our volunteer efforts in support of those who live on the streets of Toronto would not be possible without the generous donation of bottled water and staff time by Nestlé Waters Canada.”
“We are very proud to be associated with Project Water through the donation of our products and the donation of time by our employees, especially when it is directed towards supporting such a vulnerable segment of society,” said John Zupo, President, Nestlé Waters Canada. “Bottled water is the best antidote to dehydration for all human beings when they are away-from-home. Bottled water plays a key role in the continuing health and wellness of those who do not have access to potable water because they are homeless.”
