Project Winter Survival still seeks donations

North York Mirror

With three weeks to go before Project Winter Survival wraps up, the founder is calling on the public to help reach its goal.

With a goal of raising $60,000 and distributing 3,000 kits, Jody Steinhauer said the project is short $20,000, which could fund 800 kits.

“We’re not solving the (homeless) problem, we’re bringing awareness to the issue,” Steinhauer, who, along with founding Project Winter Survival, is also president and CEO of The Bargains Group on Caledonia Road, previously told insidetoronto.com “More and more people are using food banks or are on the verge of going into shelters. The need is always going to go up and we expect that.”

Last year, Project Winter Survival assembled 2,500 kits for 114 agencies, who in turn distributed the kits.
