Toronto, Ont. – Nestlé Waters Canada is donating $42,336 worth of bottled water to Project Water, a volunteer organization that distributes water to those living on the streets of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
“Dehydration amongst those living on the streets of Toronto is a major health crisis in our community – and we are very pleased that, once again, Nestlé Waters Canada has stepped up to the place,” says Jody Steinhauer, founder of Project Water.
Steinhauer notes that more people die on the streets due to dehydration in the summer than they do in the winter due to hypothermia.
The donation amounts to 241,920 bottles of water. Since 2006, Puslinch, Ont.-based Nestlé Waters Canada has donated in excess of 885,984 bottles of water to Project Water.
Over the next few months Project Water will deliver the bottled water to more than 160 social service agencies that work with the homeless in Toronto and the GTA.
